In November 2021 Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event will present a one of a kind programme for production designers - a masterclass course PÖFF Black Room, taking place for the second time. The programme welcomes 10 production designers or film industry professionals, who are interested in expanding their knowledge on visual storytelling, and offers extensive knowledge and practical skills necessary to design visually impactful cinematic worlds.
PÖFF Black Room, taking place on 22-25 November explores the fundamental craft behind a successful production design — script breakdown. The in-depth four-day training is one of a kind in the region and includes online lectures, case studies and workshops by two outstanding production designers - Sabine Hviid („Another Round”) and Christian Olander („Tom of Finland”). The selected participants will learn how to turn written stories into affective images including versatile ways to approach the film script in order to break it down into elements, tasks, budgets and impactful visuals.
The programme is created for production designers who have previous work experience in the Art Department. Production designers and film industry professionals interested in participating in the programme are welcome to send in their submissions by 10 October 2021. PÖFF Black Room, held in English, aims to welcome all the participants in Tallinn during the Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event. The selected participants will gain an Industry PRO accreditation granting access to the event’s online programme and online screenings from Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival’s various competition programmes.
Last year, PÖFF Black Room took place virtually and included in-depth masterclasses by Simon Weisse (The Grand Budapest Hotel and Isle of Dogs), Jacqueline Abrahams, (Lady Macbeth and The Lobster) and Maria Djurkovic (The Imitation Game and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy).
