Music Meets Film
International Co-Productions: Estonia & Iceland
Co-production is an opportunity for new funding, business and creative partnerships. It is also something that strengthens a bond between countries. A similar bond has been created between Estonia and Iceland over years of collaboration and during this panel we are focusing ourselves on two films and how music has created these relationships: ‘Driving Mum’ and ‘Smoke Sauna Sisterhood’.
Having remarkable journeys, these two films are great examples of recent co-production wonders between our two countries. For this panel we are joined from the ‘Driving Mum’ team by Hilmar Oddsson (director), Tõnu Kõrvits (composer), Matis Rei (sound designer) and Hendrik Mägar (editor). For ‘Smoke Sauna Sisterhood’ we are joined by Anna Hints (director) and Eðvarð Egilsson (composer). The case studies will be moderated by Marianne Ostrat (producer of both films). We will explore how these co-productions came to be, how music connects us, how these were developed, the accomplishments and what kind of future do we see for similar co-productions.
