Born in Reykjavík 1957. Studied film making in Munich (HFF). Has directed 6 full length films, several documentaries, television dramas and shorts. Has directed both for theatre and radio. Was the rector of The Icelandic Film School 2010-2017. Has also made carrier as a musician and songwriter, both as a solo artist and with the group Melchior. His latest feature, Driving Mum, won the Grand Prix of the Tallinn Black Night film Festival in 2022.
