The River
During a winter in Santiago, five teenagers living on the banks of the Mapocho River lose their shack due to heavy rains and the rising waters. With nowhere to go, the teens embark on an adventure, traveling along the entire Mapocho River all the way to its mouth, to finally see the ocean.
Toño and Pancho escape from the Sename. They arrive at the Mapocho River where they meet Mayita and Katia. As they walk along the shore looking for a place to stay, they meet Beto, a young Argentinean who offers them his tent to sleep in. But a storm causes the river to rise and they must escape from the place. With nowhere to go, the young people decide to travel the entire river to get to know the sea. But Beto is unable to fit in and one afternoon they find him committing suicide in a tree. Sad, the young people bury him on the riverbank, and the next day they continue their trip. One night, Mayita complains profusely because her stomach hurts. She goes outside to pee, and when she bends down, a baby falls to the ground. Then she realizes: she was pregnant. The following days Mayita rests and feeds her daughter. Little by little she regains her strength and is ready to continue. After a few days they reach the mouth of the river, and excitedly contemplate the immensity of the sea.
