Hijacked Life
In 1970, a teenager and his father hijack a Soviet airplane in search of freedom, igniting a 50-year odyssey across three continents – until, in 2002 in California, the son kills his father.
It was the first successful plane hijacking in the Soviet Union – and the beginning of a twisted father–son odyssey. In 1970, a father hijacks a Soviet jet with his 15-year-old son. A stewardess dies, Cold War powers clash, and in 1976 the pair slip west to the United States. But America isn't freedom – it's just a new cockpit, with Dad still at the controls. In 2002, the son snaps, kills him, and serves 20 years. Released in 2023, now homeless in Los Angeles, he asks:What is freedom worth when the cost is everything?
