Director's note:
Inspired by a Hungarian legend, FATA MORGANA is a thrilling tale of a woman's revenge set in the cursed wastelands of early 20th-century Central Europe. This gripping thriller addresses profound and universal issues: immigration and assimilation, misogyny and emancipation, obedience and ethics. Drawing from classic Western movies and series, our goal is to reinvent the genre, creating a 'feminist Eastern.' It tells the story of a woman in the 20th century battling a violent patriarchal society, symbolizing the struggles of all women across different eras and regions. FATA MORGANA promises a unique cinematic experience, featuring monumental panoramas and iconic close-ups for a visually striking presentation. Each episode will have a distinctive artistic approach to the story. Rooted in Central Europe, the series will showcase a diverse cast from the region, alongside some French characters, reflecting the historic ties between Central Europe and France in the early 20th century.

Pálfi’s second feature "Taxidermia" screened at Cannes in Un Certain Regard and won the Sundance Institute/NHK Award for Best European Film Project, also have been in competition programme EurAsia at PÖFF 2006.
