The epic coming-of-age story of a Rocky Mountain Squirrel who took on the Urban Jungle in a heartwarming Nature Adventure.

Synopsis

Tiny and fragile, Amy appears almost insignificant amidst the vast wilderness of the Rocky Mountains. Yet, this Red Squirrel carves out her own space in this big world. Her tale takes a dramatic turn when she accidentally leaves her forest home and finds herself in a city, facing the challenge of beginning anew in an unfamiliar environment. In a time full of chaos and bad news, here comes Amy. This adorable and funny squirrel lady will show you that it’s worth it to face all the obstacles life throws at you. Through her charm, Amy will immerse you into her world full of adventures and challenges. She must learn, fail, solve, adapt, and overcome. This tiny hero is quick on her feet and sharp in her head, full of courage and bravery, as it is the way of a squirrel heroine! With its enchanting blend of humour, adventure, and educational value, this feature-length coming-of-age story is more than just a nature documentary. It's a heartfelt story that resonates with audiences of all ages.

Director's note:
"Amy" is a hybrid of fictional and non-fictional storytelling, making the animal protagonist emotionally tangible without humanizing her. This dramatized portrayal allows viewers, especially younger ones, to immerse themselves in the struggles of everyday life that small animals face in a big world. This movie aims to encourage young viewers to face their challenges and feel seen and understood. Adults will also connect with the film, gaining insight into the existential nature of an animal's life. Watching our tiny and unlikely heroine fight her battles in front of the impressive backdrop of the Rocky Mountains on the big screen will emotionally immerse viewers, revealing that there is more to life on earth than our own human existence. I believe viewers will be spellbound by our tiny heroine's battles, making our project a hit with families.

Producer's note:
Creating a film with a squirrel as the protagonist may seem unusual, but this idea has significant potential. Squirrels, with their diverse behaviours and endearing qualities, can captivate a wide audience, appealing to both children and adults. This was demonstrated by our successful film "The Crazy World of Squirrels," which was screened at numerous festivals and sold in over 70 countries. Despite being early in the development process, we have secured strong partners. We are pleased to have Weltkino and Albatross World Sales on board, both renowned German distributors. Their expertise will provide valuable input during the development phase. Broadcasters such as Westdeutscher Rundfunk, have also shown interest and expressed enthusiasm for the project, potentially involving German ARD.
