TV Beats Forum, the drama-series-oriented strand of Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, taking place in Tallinn and online on November 21-22, discusses various aspects of the booming series production compared to film production and presents various case studies.

As in previous years, TV Beats Forum powered by Elisa, focuses on burning topics in drama series production through presentations, panel discussions and case studies. Jevgeni Supin, the manager of TV Beats Forum said that this year’s programme is created to provide more practical advice and inspiration to professionals on how to get their series out there in challenging times.

The two-day conference will take off with a research report by Lottie Towler from Ampere Analysis on how the suspension of production and distribution between EU and Russia affects the audiovisual sector in a long run and how it has reshaped the industry. The Crystal Ball Session led by Beta Film will focus on future trends, changing roles and shifting perspectives of drama series market.

At the discussion panel Nebojsa Taraba (Drugi Plan), Kateryna Vishnevska (Film.UA), Anna Rohde (Beta Film) will dig into launching a lucrative co-production: what are the prerequisites for a successful co-production, what are the experience and expectations and when and where to look for a co-producer?

As TV Beats Forum has a strong focus on sharing experiences various case studies are presented during the 2-day event. Case study Rivals Becoming Friends is a New Trend? takes a closer look at how old competitors could cooperate to create compelling content. As the financing models of series are changing, distributors and sales agents who used to come on board at later stages of production or post-production are now willing to step in from the beginning. Also, another case study takes a close look at competitors’ collaboration to find out what are the benefits for rivals when co-financing a series. Should it be viewed as an instant gain or a long-term investment? Michael Polle from X Film Creative Pool shares his experience based on his productions Babylon Berlin and Furia.

Writer Birk Rohelend and producer Ingrid Eloranta will share their inspirational international success journey of Who Killed Otto Müller from TV Beats Co-Financing market to Gothenburg’s TV Drama Vision and to the orbit of Viaplay.

TV Beats Forum focuses on providing practical guidelines for the audience as Lottie Towler from Ampere Analysis shares her advice on how to find the best match for your co-production project amongst the number of co-production forums and marketing in Europe. The programme includes an interview How to Sneak Past the Gatekeepers about how to prepare your project in the best way and how to network to get your pilot read by decision-makers.

The 2-day forum also encloses presentations of projects taking part in TV Beats Co-Financing Market and MIDPOINT Series Launch.
