On Monday, Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event steps into the world of drama series during the two-day TV Beats Forum conference and at the pitching of the TV Beats Co-Financing market.
One of the highlights will be the fireside chat with Ukrainian independent producer Kateryna Vyshnevska (at 10.15 EET), who will receive the Honorary TV Beats Producer Award, which will be presented for the first time. The conversation with Marike Muselaers will cover the successes and challenges, the do's and don'ts of co-production and understanding the market.
Reflecting the festival's focus on Germany, the TV Beats Forum programme will include a presentation on the Apple TV+ series Constellation, exploring the highs and lows of making the psychological sci-fi thriller by Jakob Neuhäusser of Turbine Studios.
The afternoon sessions also include future-oriented sessions. One of these, "Future Is Here - AI You Can Use (& Abuse?)", will allow us to witness a face-off between AI and professional scriptwriter, real-life TV executive Steve Matthews, to see who can create a better series pitch. Another forward-thinking session, "The Future Is Here: Practical Tools" will present the new equality tool for audiovisual productions and the European VR Writers' Room programme.
The programme also includes insightful panel discussion "Meeting of Minds 1 - How (and What) to Finance?", where experts will share their thoughts on how to overcome the many known and unknown challenges in financing projects.
As always, the TV Beats Forum will also look behind the scenes. The first day of the Forum will conclude with a Brutally Honest Case Study: Black Sands 2, where the Glassriver team will explain what it takes to finance and produce the second season of an international hit when you come from Iceland, have a population in the low six figures and start with a three?
Most of the presentations and panel discussions of TV Beats Forum take place at Nordic Hotel Forum, Capella room, and are also available online. Check the full programme here
At 12.00 (EET), everyone is welcome to attend the pitching of 10 drama series projects taking part in the TV Beats Co-Financing market! Read more about the projects here.
The best project in the TV Beats Co-Financing market, as selected by the jury, will receive the Series Co-Production Development Award, worth €50,000, which aims to foster creative collaborations in series co-production and empower independent producers. The award is part of the Pilot Programme for series co-productions, an initiative of the Council of Europe, and is open to independent producers from all Eurimages member countries. The jury includes Clémentine Trolong-Bailly, representative of the Pilot Programme for Series Co-productions of the Council of Europe, France, Christian Wikander, producer, Sweden and Remi Tereszkiewicz, Development Executive, BetaSeries, France.
