For the second year in a row, PÖFF offers the opportunity to step into the shoes of an international film critic. PÖFF is seeking participants to a film review workshop, led by Victor Fraga.

The workshop offers the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of film criticism and concise writing. The one-day course is aimed at people of all ages and nationalities, from film fans and aspiring film critics to industry professionals - producers, filmmakers, script writers, programmers, PR agents, journalists, festival organisers and so on.

The lecturer of the workshop, Victor Fraga, is the founder and editor of DMovies, a leading indie publication in the UK for 10 years, and PÖFF's trusted media partner for eight years. Victor is also a filmmaker, producer and exhibitor.

"Film criticism is a creative trade. It must function in tandem and yet independently from filmmaking. Film reviews should be fun and exciting to write, and readers should find the literature engaging and inspirational, not merely functional and descriptive. It is a real honour to run this course for the second year at PÖFF", says Fraga.
He adds: “The skills acquired are valuable to all trades and easily transferable to other areas of the film industry. Non-native English speakers will find that their mother tongue is an asset, not a handicap.”

PÖFF Shorts Festival Director Mari Liis Keevallik says: “I’m glad to say that Victor Fraga’s workshop last year was a success! Emerging film critics got to review the newest short films, without any chance of being influenced by other reviews. For the short film authors, who may often be overlooked, it was a great chance to get publicity and reviews right after their film premieres at PÖFF Shorts.”

The workshop will take place on the 9 November, 11:00 to 18:00 at Nordic Hotel Forum, Tallinn, .

The objectives of the workshop are:

Each attendee will receive individual feedback on their work.

How to apply?
PÖFF is seeking participants of all nationalities, primarily from the three Baltic countries: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The Workshop requires intermediate command of English and interest in the film industry.
