This year's Industry@Baltic Event introduces a new programme involving Script Pool competition for film projects – presenting five projects and teams behind them and a Discovery Showcase, highlighting the six directors nominated for the European Discovery 2021 – Prix FIPRESCI for their first full-length feature film. The programme also welcomes an internationally acclaimed director, writer and producer Baltasar Kormákur at the inspirational talk.
According to Triin Tramberg, manager of Discovery Campus, the educational platform that includes Future to Film, the programme is targeted to emerging scriptwriters, directors and producers. “Script Pool competition provides support and coaching to the teams that are on their first feature film. The five teams, taking part this year, will have an opportunity to work together with well-known script doctors and pitching mentors in order to improve the script and maximise its production and distribution potential.”
The jury of Script Pool consists of Marie Zeniter (director of International Sales), Patrick Fisher (Creativity Capital) and Katrin Kissa (Homeless Bob Production).
The second part of Future to Film is developed in tight partnership with European Film Academy and FIPRESCI and presents the six directors nominated for the European Discovery 2021 – Prix FIPRESCI for their first full-length feature film. “All the films will be screened at PÖFF and hopefully the audience will have the opportunity to meet the directors also. During Future to Film the young directors will have an opportunity to meet each other for the first time, get acquainted with the emerging actors and actresses from the Black Nights Stars programme, meet the participants of Script Pool and attend panels designated for them,” she added.
The highlight of the programme is an inspirational masterclass "Meet the Director” with a director, who has previously won the European Film Academy Discovery Award with the first film and who will share the experience in finding the inspiration and motivation to overcome the pressure and move on to the second feature. This time the participants of Future to Film will meet with Baltasar Kormákur, Discovery Award nominee in 2003 and an internationally acclaimed director, writer and producer of features and series.
In addition the Future to Film programme includes various workshops, masterclasses and fireside chats.
