Gunnbjörn Gunnarsson was born in Aalborg, Denmark, and raised in Iceland. He graduated with a BA in Acting from Cours Florent Berlin. Having been involved in sports from a young age, Gunnbjörn has developed a strong interest in incorporating physicality into his acting, particularly through physically demanding and movement-driven roles. In 2023, Gunnbjörn wrote, produced, and starred in the short film Showers, which was nominated for Best Narrative at the Stockfish Film Festival, in Iceland (2024) as well as receiving two additional nominations at the Hollywood Shorts Film Festival in Los Angeles and Nordic International Film Festival in New York. His work as an actor has continued across film and theatre, while his experience as a writer and producer has given him a broader understanding of the filmmaking process and strengthened his interest in developing stories both in front of and behind the camera. He has also recently completed two short films in which he plays the lead roles, both of which are currently in post-production.
