Luci Looped in Limbo
A physicist obsessed with changing the past must learn to accept the present.
After a car accident leaves her partner Maddy paralyzed, physicist Luci is consumed by guilt and begins obsessively reliving the night, changing every decision in search of a reality where the tragedy never happened. When every version leads back to the same outcome, she returns to the research on Time she abandoned after her father’s death. As Maddy learns to embrace her new life, Luci becomes increasingly trapped in the past. Decades later, Luci is given one last encounter with that fateful morning and chooses not to change it, but simply to be present with the woman she loved.

Director's note
Luci Looped in Limbo was born from a question that has haunted me for years: what would we do if we could return to the moments that changed our lives?
Through Luci, I wanted to explore our desire to control what cannot be controlled. After the accident that leaves Maddy paralyzed, Luci becomes convinced that another version of events must exist one in which a different word, decision or road could have prevented the tragedy. Her obsession with Time is ultimately an obsession with guilt.
The film uses science fiction not as a spectacle, but as an intimate and emotional language. The repetitions, temporal shifts and increasingly uncertain perception of reality allow us to inhabit Luci's mind and experience her inability to accept the present. In contrast, Maddy gradually learns to live with what happened. Their love story becomes a confrontation between two ways of facing loss: trying endlessly to undo it, or learning to live with it.
At its core, the film is not about travelling through time, but about accepting that we cannot. Luci's final journey is therefore not another attempt to save Maddy. It is the moment when she finally stops trying to change their past and chooses simply to experience it fully present with the person she loves.

Producer's note
We chose to produce Luci Looped in Limbo because we immediately connected with Théo Gottlieb's ambition to approach science fiction through an intimate and deeply human story. Behind its exploration of Time, the film is first and foremost about love, guilt, grief and our struggle to accept the events that shape our lives.
As Théo's first feature film, the project required us to build a production model capable of protecting this ambition while remaining agile and independent. The film was shot in France with an international cast and crew, in English and French, with the intention from the outset of reaching audiences beyond its country of production.
The film is now in editing, with picture lock scheduled for the end of October 2026 and completion of post-production by January 2027.
At this stage, our priority is to surround the film with the right international partners. We are looking for a sales agent who understands its combination of intimate drama and science fiction, as well as festival and distribution partners who can help us build its international trajectory. We are also seeking the remaining financing required to complete post-production and P&A.
