Chain Reaction
A young snowboarder must team up with his crew to expose a conspiracy buried beneath their resort.
In the Alpine ski resort of Bistri Vrh, 17-year-old snowboarder Klemen mysteriously vanishes after a party, prompting his activist mother Manca and his friends to search for answers. Meanwhile, former snowboarding icon Aljaž returns after twenty years to claim his late father's ski workshop, reigniting buried resentments with Manca. As the teen crew prepares for the European Championship qualifiers, they stumble upon a chilling secret: illegal operations inside the town's abandoned uranium mine.
Generational reckoning, extreme sports and a dangerous conspiracy collide as the young snowboarders race to expose the truth before their town pays the ultimate price.

Director's note
My core directorial goal for Chain Reaction is to maintain a constant sensory duality. Above ground is absolute freedom: wind cutting across faces, adrenaline pounding, snow squeaking beneath boards, a world where characters feel invincible. Below, that euphoria fractures into a low, muffled hum rising from the depths. The endless white no longer provides protection, but claustrophobic isolation.
The mountain is a silent observer. Precise framing creates the sense that characters are constantly watched by the past buried in the mine. Tension between what we see and what we sense becomes our engine of suspense. Working with actors, I seek raw, honest energy. Their fear is masked by humour and arrogance, emphasising their physical vulnerability. In the dark mine, stripped of gear, they appear fragile against corporate machinery and their parents' unspoken truths.
Chain Reaction represents the internal physics of the series – the moment of criticality when a disturbance in the radioactive core triggers an irreversible sequence. It is the collision between a weathered mountain community and predatory nuclear expansion: a process of inevitable decay. Once the first isotope of truth is released, the momentum becomes terminal, depicting the systematic dismantling of home by a sterile corporate force.
The rhythm follows a heartbeat. Snow action sequences are fast and documentary-like, while scenes in the mine or with adults are deliberately slowed down. Silence becomes a weapon; long pauses filled with dripping water or distant humming build unbearable pressure.
Ultimately, I want the audience to move from youthful carefreeness to the brutal realisation that the foundations of "home" are poisoned. By season's end, the world has reached a point of no return, where survival depends on the choices of these young people.

Screenwriter's note
I grew up seeing mountains as places of freedom, but Chain Reaction explores the secrets buried beneath the powder. Inspired by the real, unresolved legacy of uranium mining in Slovenia, this series asks: what happens when the next generation refuses to look away?
The heart of the show lies in the contrast between light and darkness. Above, we have the high-velocity energy of snowboarding; below, the claustrophobic, distorted world of the mine. Our young protagonists aren't just symbolic rebels; they are active agents making dangerous choices in a landscape scarred by the decisions of their elders. By blending raw realism with immersive cinematography, Chain Reaction uses a fresh visual language to tell a universal European story about environmental accountability and the moment play turns into life-or-death responsibility.

Producer's note
As I grew up skiing and snowboarding from the age of five, and later worked as a snowboarding photographer and collaborated on snowboarding films, Chain Reaction is a deeply personal project for me. The snowboarding subculture is a world I know intimately, and our goal is to bring its raw energy and absolute authenticity to a wider global audience.
Chain Reaction is an action thriller that balances commercial appeal with a gritty, distinct European identity. We want to deliver a premium eight-part series that moves past standard coming-of-age tropes, throwing its characters instead into a claustrophobic eco-conspiracy. Set in the Alps, the project hooks into a massive, globally underserved market: a youth drama rooted in the adrenaline-fuelled world of extreme snowboarding.
To deepen the world-building narrative, we plan to weave in flashbacks using real archival material from classic snowboarding films, all while keeping the emotional stakes grounded and real.
Chain Reaction is built for international co-production. By pitting a group of local Alpine kids against a ruthless foreign antagonist and bringing together snowboarding teams from neighbouring countries, the narrative naturally opens doors for cross-border financing and international talent attachments.
To maintain authenticity, we are committed to casting fresh, raw local talent and using immersive, documentary-style cinematography. We are currently in the early development phase, finalising our script materials, pitch decks and visual concepts.
Chain Reaction is a highly efficient, attractive package for an audience looking for local European stories with universal pull. Our immediate roadmap focuses on locking in co-production partners and financing rounds through 2027, setting up for a winter shoot in 2028.
Chain Reaction is an urgent story about youth standing up to systemic corruption in a world of climate change, and we are fully committed to bringing its energy to international screens.
