The Near Future Retreat

The Near Future Retreat (©New Nordic Narratives) is a long-running, radical think tank conversation that journeys across key Nordic and European film industry events. Starting its journey with main partner, Industry@Tallinn, in 2022, we have revisited Tallinn and our main collaborators during 2023 and 2024: the European Film Market/Berlinale, NEXT/Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes, New Nordic Films/Haugesund, Finnish Film Affair/Helsinki and the European Film Academy, where the 12th Retreat will take place this December, supported by Swiss Films. Its goal, to offer a safe space for a growing number of creatives as they voice their unique perspective on what their most urgent needs and wants are, as we all listen and look towards shaping the future of our film and television communities - together. The Retreat adheres to the Chatham House Rules, and facilitators Helene Granqvist and Valeria Richter, will begin to share insights and reflections from these precious encounters during 2025.
