When it comes to the short film industry, very little space has routinely been allocated to the short form before streaming platforms emerged as innovative new hubs for (short) filmmakers, cinephiles and professionals alike, changing the rules of the game and dictating how we consume (short) films. Historically, theatrical distribution of shorts has not been financially, logistically or even creatively viable for decades. Broadcast TV has faced these same issues.
