Music Meets Film
Scoring for a Brief
Practicality is an important part of Music Meets Film and therefore we strive to have a creative workshop each year. Music Meets Film participants head the masterclass to Selektor Studio in Telliskivi to create a piece of score according to an example brief. The masterclass will be led by the music supervisor Kathleen Wallfisch to expand the participants' understanding of working with a brief and what to keep in mind. Through the process, Wallfisch acts as a mentor and translator to the composer to get the best score piece as a final product. The time in the studio is limited – therefore, working with a tight deadline will be practiced. All the participants will be also provided with pre-selected packages from MMF partner Orchestral Tools for the masterclass.
There is more – it is also a competition. Best score piece will be chosen at the end of the studio day and the composer will have a chance to record the score with pre-selected instruments the following day in Tallinn in Selektor Studio.
