International Screen Institute: Audience design
Audience Design is a creative distribution practice to engage audiences across platforms and genres with a story-based and multi-angle approach.
Ideally starting at an early stage of development, AD allows writers/directors, producers and distributors of film projects to share their specific perspectives within a transparent framework and working process.
Audience Design therefore shapes both the creative development (such as story development and production design) and the strategic development (such as positioning and benchmarking) of the film. Based on the story, it offers different tools which can be useful to first explore, then understand and finally engage different audiences.
As practicing Audience Designer, Benjamin Cölle will talk about the theoretical foundations of this practice and present recent film projects as best-practice examples. Invited are those who want to set out together to explore their audiences in a collaborative and iterative process from an early stage of development.
