Beyond the Usual Suspects: Who ELSE is Out There Buying Indie Film in International Digital (A Workshop Hosted by EPI with Wendy Bernfeld)
Hosted by the Erich Pommer Institut (EPI), this workshop session features Wendy Bernfeld, founder of consultancy/digital agency Rights Stuff, who provides an updated overview of the rapidly evolving international streaming landscape. She highlights the multiple digital sector opportunities for indies to enhance revenues and audience, via licensing library and current titles, across multiple regions, platforms, business models and ‘windows’ (TVOD, SVOD, AVOD/FAST).
She goes beyond just the ‘Big Globals’ (Netflix / Amazon types), to focus on other mainstreamers/ regional competitors (including telecom, cable, OTT); as well as more targeted complementary streamers, ie those who buy to program for specific themes, niches, genres, audiences. She then provides some pragmatic tips on matchmaking, how to reach the platforms, pitch slant, and approaches/deals via middlepersons, DIY or ‘hybrid’.
