Your film deserves an audience, but digital distribution can feel like a maze. Who are the key players? How does a film actually end up on VoD platforms?
This introductory session demystifies digital distribution: how it works, who does what, and how revenues flow back to rights holders. We then focus on TVOD (transactional video on demand), where viewers rent or buy films on platforms such as Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and Google TV. TVOD is a real, long-term opportunity to release a film internationally, well beyond its festival or theatrical life.
Yet accessing these global platforms directly requires technical, legal and contractual infrastructure designed for studios and large distributors. For most independent producers, this is the missing link between a finished film and a worldwide audience.
Through a real case study, you'll follow a film's journey from producer to platform and see what it takes to make it available to audiences around the world.
Since 2010, UMW has been an Apple- and Amazon-approved, YouTube-verified aggregator, providing digital distribution services to more than 700 rights holders on the world's leading VoD platforms.
