Eduards Johansons is a Latvian stage and screen actor from Valmiera. Because his father, Valmiera Theatre actor Januss Johansons, Eduards grew up close to theatre. He studied dramatic acting at the Latvian Academy of Culture, graduating in 2015, and joined the Valmiera Theatre ensemble that same year. Johansons works in both comedy and drama. One of his best-known stage roles is Uģis in Jānis Znotiņš’s production We, Rock, Sex and the USSR. For this performance, he was nominated for Actor of the Year at the 2021/2022 Spēlmaņu nakts theatre awards. He also received Valmiera Theatre’s audience award for Actor of the Year. His film work includes Despair (2019), The Year Before the War (2021), which screened at the Big Screen Competition at IFFR; Ein Tag im August – Mauerbau ’61 (2021), Bologna 1752 – Die Wissenschaftlerin Laura Bassi (2023), Ecstasis (2023), and Flesh, Blood, Even a Heart (2025) which had its world premiere in the Baltic Film Competition at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in 2025.
