Tallinn is moving ahead with plans for a major film studio complex in Põhja-Tallinn, as environmental and spatial planning work continues on the site. The development would establish one of Estonia’s most significant production facilities, aiming to meet the demand from both local and international film crews & productions.

The studio is intended to strengthen Tallinn’s role as a regional film hub, supporting productions annually and boosting the creative economy. While plans are still being finalized, the proposed complex represents a major step toward expanding Estonia’s production capacity and attracting larger international projects in the future. The complex will be developed by Tallinnfilm.

City officials told ERR that the project is progressing through key planning stages, with a vision to create modern sound stages, production spaces, and supporting infrastructure. The project will follow the footsteps of the same sectoral growth as the IDA Hub aims to accelerate after its completion in 2026. Together, the initiatives could turn Estonia into a major regional player by providing stable, high-quality infrastructure.
