Lithuania has taken a further step towards developing a modern film studio in Vilnius, bringing public authorities and industry partners together to strengthen the country’s capacity to host larger international productions.
Announced in July 2026, a cooperation agreement unites the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation, Vilnius City Municipality, the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists and the Baltic Film & Creative Tech Cluster.
The partners aim to address a shortage of large-scale studio infrastructure capable of supporting production throughout the year. Vilnius City Municipality will prepare development studies and planning documents, while the partners explore investment opportunities and implementation arrangements.
The initiative also includes reviewing the strategy of the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO to create conditions for the project. Its location, scale and financing remain subject to further planning.
For international producers, the agreement signals Lithuania’s ambition to complement its locations, crews and production services with expanded studio capacity.
