The IDA Hub Film Campus opened in Jõhvi, northeastern Estonia, on 15 October 2026, expanding the country’s capacity to host international film and television productions. The opening coincided with DUUBEL 3, an international industry conference exploring how studios, local expertise and new technologies can work together to attract productions to the region.
For producers considering Estonia, the campus brings together studio space, workshops, production offices and post-production facilities in one location. Its two studios measure 2,000 m² and 1,200 m², with a layout that allows separate productions to work simultaneously. The larger studio offers direct access for heavy vehicles and a ceiling height of up to 20 metres, providing space for substantial set construction.
Supporting facilities include costume and make-up rooms, storage and workshops, alongside editing rooms, recording studios, a sound studio and a screening room. The campus is designed to accommodate different stages of production, from building sets to editing and sound work.
The opening conference brought together Estonian and international producers, industry experts, technology companies and decision-makers. Discussions examined what makes a region competitive for international productions, including locations, crews, services, incentives and logistics.
The programme also explored production technology and the needs of future filmmaking hubs, with sessions addressing artificial intelligence, casting, music and new business models.
IDA Hub combines the studio complex with business development and training programmes. Developed through collaboration between the Ida-Viru Investment Agency, the Ida-Viru Enterprise Centre and Tehnopol, the initiative connects production infrastructure with opportunities for local service providers, emerging film professionals and technology startups.
For international filmmakers, the opening adds a new studio option in northeastern Estonia, complementing Ida-Viru County’s filming locations and regional production expertise.
