The film industry is changing faster than ever, and the question remains: can film schools keep up? Is it really true that some skills are to be learned only on set, or can schools and training programs deliver market-ready professionals and nurture creative voices at the same time? This panel brings together perspectives from film schools - Warsaw Film School, FAMU, Aalto University, and Baltic Film, Media and Arts School in Tallinn. Together, we will discuss how to bridge the gap between education and the industry, whether we are truly preparing students for the demands of the market, and how to balance technical upskilling with artistic development

Creating the look and feel of a movie starts not only in grading - it starts way before the shoot, with all departments collaborating very early in the process. This is a prime example of the importance of team work and communication, not only for those directly involved in this process.
Edmond Laccon will give examples of different films and explain how the concept for the look was a deliberate decision between HODs prior to the shoot.

Script Pool competition, a part of Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event film market activities and Discovery Campus educational program, takes place for the eighth time already. Each year it highlights five international projects and the team behind them - director-scriptwriter, and producer. The aim is to gather film projects with high distribution value with a final draft in place. Focusing on the script and the overall project presentation, the projects, and their teams will be presented to the international industry decision-makers (sales agents, financiers, and co-producers) whose contribution will increase their sales and distribution potential.

While the APostLab workshop focuses on best-practices and doing things in an ideal setup, this session will give some ideas and different approaches for projects on smaller or micro budgets. All this with a strategy to not sacrifice the creative work or the standard of delivery that can be done, in case this is needed or a sale happens only at the end of a project.
The presentation will be food-for-thought to inspire teams to think outside the box and consider different solutions to reach a goal. Niko Remus and Katriel Schory will discuss this topic from two different angles, the producers and the post-production perspective.
