Production conditions in Berlin-Brandenburg are excellent. The capital region attracts producers from all over the world and is the home to the famous Studio Babelsberg. In the past years, major international film productions and high end drama series were shot here, including most recently The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Francis Lawrence, John Wick 4 with Keanu Reeves, The Matrix Resurrections by Lana Wachowski, as well as Babylon Berlin. Steven Spielberg filmed Bridge of Spies, Golden Palm winner The White Ribbon by Michael Haneke used Brandenburg’s stylistic setting for its story, Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds brought Brad Pitt and Diane Kruger into the studio and Stephen Daldry's The Reader with Kate Winslet plus 4 times Oscar winner The Grand Budapest Hotel by Wes Anderson were filmed here.
With an annual budget of approximately € 35 million the regional film fund Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg supports film and serial pro jects in all its stages: development, production, distribution, as well as digital postproduction and A-festival competition presence. MBB is open to outstanding national and international projects ranging from high end art house to cinema blockbusters. The funding policy is focused on cinema production, exceptional TV movies and TV series.
Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg funded films at this year's edition of the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival include Dying (Matthias Glasner), From Hilde, with Love (Andreas Dresen), Riefenstahl (Andres Veiel), Winners (Soleen Yusef), La Mort viendra (Christoph Hochhäusler), Turning Tables (Angelina Maccarone) and Ice Aged (Alexandra Sell).
