The two-day industry event continues riding on a youthful wave, with an eye towards international and educational growth. Our dates are 21-22 November 2024, and the place continues to be the magical winter wonderland of Tallinn, Estonia — probably the only place on Earth where you can talk business while swimming in the icy Baltic Sea.
Our programme is designed to keep the needs of youth and children film industry professionals, aspiring filmmakers, and film educators in mind.
A notable highlight of the programme is the three-year partnership with KIDS Regio. The partnership creates a ground for new networking opportunities and creates ways to bring children and youth filmmakers together.
With KIDS Regio, we take networking to a new level with a new evening event format: “The Fuck Up Night”, where failures meet solutions, emphasizing the importance of learning from mistakes and moving forward wiser.
KIDS Regio will also share the results of Europe-wide research, “Keeping up with children as an audience”, which provides important insights into the viewing habits of kids aged 7-11.
We will expand our educational section for teachers, aiming to integrate film and filmmaking into the fabric of schools and student life with one time day event and a well-curated series of lectures and workshops throughout the year.
We are very excited about our newest update - we’ve launched a children’s and youth film category in the Baltic Event’s Co-Production Market. We’ll be looking for the following:
This year’s market also reintroduces the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award, and films in the children’s and youth film category will also compete for the award. The Eurimages Co-Production Development Award includes a non-reimbursable subsidy of 20,000€ for feature-length fiction, animation, and documentary films, which must be used exclusively to cover the development expenses of the co-production project.
Submissions for Just Film Works in Progress (youth and children’s projects) open in August, and we’ve also have some updates. We will present 7-8 international projects for a pitching session in November.
We are looking for projects geared toward children, youth, and young adults in the following categories:
