Over two decades Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event has presented hundreds of film projects in various production stages. Just in 2021, the summit welcomed 66 projects both in film and the newly established series market. Many of those excellent films and series projects have reached the screens and new heights. Check out some of the highlights!
- In 2022 Venice Film Festival welcomed USA-Italy co-production MONICA by Andrea Pallaoro as part of the Venezia 79 Competition. In 2016, the film script created by Andrea Pallaoro and Orlando Tirado took part in the Script Pool competition.
- A Spanish film CORK by young writer-director Mikel Guerra that took part in the Works in Progress in Tallinn in 2021, was selected for the Official Competition of San Sebastian Film Festival in 2022.
- Matīss Kaža's LGBTQ+ underground drama, NEON SPRING, presented at Works in Progress sessions in 2020 had its World Premiere at the 2022 Edinburgh International Film Festival.
- In August 2022 MAN OF DEEDS directed by Nicolae Constantin Tănase and produced by Paul Negoescu and Anamaria Antoci premiered at Sarajevo Film Festival. In 2018, the script of the film, written by Radu Romaniuc, won the main prize at Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event Script Pool Tallinn competition.
- An Estonian project from Script Pool TV 2020 edition, WHO SHOT OTTO MUELLER?, boosted at TV Beats Co-Financing Market in 2021, partnered up with Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) to create the first-ever Estonian Viaplay Original. The series will be premiered in September 2022.
- In 2022 a German feature film WE MIGHT AS WELL BE DEAD by director Natalia Sinelnikova, which participated in Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event Works in Progress, was premiered at Berlinale and Tribeca Film Festival.
- A Ukrainian feature STOP ZEMLJA, a debut by writer and director Kateryna Gornostai was awarded the Crystal Bear for Best Film in the Generation 14plus competition for Young Audiences at Berlinale Summer Special in 2021. The project was previously part of the Baltic Event Co-Production Market in 2017, then entitled “The Floor is Lava”.
