A Production Designer with a toolbox of strong communication and delegation skills, knowledge of how to share artistic ideas and team building is often lead to successful storytelling practice. Without the necessary preparation, weaknesses can easily be spotted on the large screen.

This year’s program, themed Creative Collaboration, aims to prepare the students in practical skills such as presenting one’s artistic ideas, teamwork between creative HODs and within the industry.

Descriptions, actions and dialogue in a scene establish the framework for a film set's design layout. This framework should create visual connections between characters and ensure that the set's design elements and character-defining pieces are positioned to enhance the storytelling.

Based on the mood board created in part one of the workshop, the students will develop a set layout for that scene. They should identify key design elements, consider how they want the space to be lit and how the camera angles available within their set space influence the storytelling and the impact on the overall set design.

The workshop starts with a presentation of the design process one of the main studio sets for “Only Lovers left Alive”, 2013.
