Vala Thorsdóttir is an actress and writer for film, TV, theatre and books and has been working as a writer/actress since her graduation at Bretton Hall College of the University of Leeds.

She’s taken courses in screenwriting such as Midpoint TV Launch and North by North West, as well as various masterclasses. Vala has written for children’s TV and is known for her international award-winning plays. Her children’s books have been nominated for different prizes including the Icelandic Women’s Literature Prize and listed on IBBY International Honour Booklist.

She has been working as a script editor/script doctor along with her own writing. Fractures an 8 episode TV drama series due to air in 2022 is her latest work as writer and actress, co-written with Kolbrún Anna Björnsdóttir and co-created with Kolbrún Anna Björnsdóttir as well as Eva Sigurðardóttir, the series director.
