Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, the region’s leading platform for the audiovisual industry, is calling for Works in Progress projects in three categories for its 2024 edition: Children and Youth Film (Just Film) Works in Progress projects, Baltic Event Works in Progress (Baltic and Finnish projects), and International Works in Progress.
Producers and directors are entitled to apply for the Works in Progress presentations with fiction, animation, or live-action animated film projects that will be in production or post-production by the time of the presentations. As a novelty, Just Film Works in Progress also welcomes feature-length animations and documentaries aimed at children aged 7-13 and youth aged 14 and up. In addition, the project must not have an international sales agent attached.
Triin Tramberg, the head of Work in Progress International, strongly encourages film professionals to submit their projects. ”Tallinn is an ideal place, appreciated for its one-of-a-kind networking vibe, to launch the project’s journey focusing on the new year as there are sales agents, and festival programmers, who are scouting for 2025 attending the event.”
Kärt Väinola, who leads the children and youth film industry section Just Film Industry Days highlights that Just Film Works in Progress has expanded its scope for the 2024 edition. “While it previously focused primarily on live-action feature films, Just Film WIP now includes feature-length animations and documentaries aimed at children aged 7-13 and youth aged 14 and up. We aim to present various projects across genres, for different age groups, from around the world.”
Works in Progress projects will be presented during the three showcases in Tallinn from November 21 to 22, 2024. After the pitch, the projects will be available to watch online, providing access to a wide range of audiovisual industry professionals. Works in Progress in Tallinn has previously showcased films that have premiered in leading film festivals worldwide.
The deadline for submitting the project and supplementary materials is 16 September 2024. Read the rules & regulations and other submission info here.
